The Cascades Community Association has organized several committees to help advise and assist the Board of Directors. Below you will find more information on these groups.


Covenants Committee

Mission

The primary responsibility of the Covenants Committee is very broadly defined as follows; "...to assure that the Property is maintained in a manner: i) providing for visual harmony and soundness of repair (ii) avoiding activities deleterious to the aesthetic or the property values of the Property, and (iii) promoting the general welfare and safety of the owners, such owners' tenants and such owners' (or tenants') households or companies, guests, employees, customers, agents, and invitees." (Article 9, Section 9.1 of the Declaration)

Meeting Schedule

We meet on the third Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at Lowes Island Community Center. Please refer to the Calendar of Events for the actual meeting dates Applications needing Covenant Committee review must be submitted to the Administrative Office a minimum of eight days prior to each scheduled Covenants Committee meeting.

Finance Committee

Mission

The primary responsibility of the Finance Committee is to advise and assist the Board of directors in planning and administering a program of financial management for the association. In fulfilling its responsibility, the Finance Committee performs functions which include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Participate with Board of Directors, the management agent, and other committees in the development of the annual budget, including replacement reserve schedules.
  • Review and evaluate association financial statements
  • Advise the board of directors regarding short-term and long-term investment of association funds, in a manner consistent with the governing documents.
  • Advise the board of directors in matters relating to delinquencies and the collection of assessments.
  • Advise the board of directors in matters relating to the annual audit and preparation of the associations tax returns.
  • Perform other functions as directed or approved by the board of directors.

Technology Working Group (TWG)

Mission

The primary responsibility of the Technology Working Group is to advise the Board of Directors on technology issues relating to the Association. In accomplishing this goal, the BOD shall assign the Technology Working Group with tasks from time to time which may include, but may not be limited to:

  • Providing the board with technological support in such areas as: procurement of association hardware and software and development of policy and procedures for hardware and software.
  • Performing such tasks that the board may direct with regards to: creation of web pages, maintenance of on-line discussion forums, and creation of a distributed information system to support better communications between the Association and its members.

The TWG's responsibilities include;

  • Create and maintain the community web site.
  • Recommend and assist in implementing electronic communications between the committees, Board of Directors and homeowners.
  • Provide information and direction about PC-related concerns to the Board of Directors and committees.
  • The Technology Working Group is NOT responsible for supporting the computers (hardware/software).

Meeting Schedule

As a Working Group rather than a Committee we do not have a regular meeting schedule.


Programs Working Group

Mission

The Programs Advisory Committee helps to advise the Board of Directors on how to best foster community activities for children, teens, and adults as well as develop relationships with local business, establish corporate sponsorship of events, identifying and evaluating pool accessories, and how to best foster volunteerism.

County Liaison Working Group

Mission

The committee's primary function is to monitor Loudoun and Fairfax County plans, projects, proposals, and laws that will impact Cascades or the area in general, conduct research and analysis, and provide recommendations to support the Board of Directors in making decisions and establishing policy on these issues.
