Officials from the Senior PGA Championship held their third community meeting on April 24th.  There was a great turnout and Mike Podolinski with the PGA updated the community on the traffic plan and the logistics of the tournament.  Many residents were happy to see that their previous concerns were addressed in the updated plans.  The LCSO was also present to answer questions relating to the road restrictions, their presence in the community that week, and parking on VDOT roads that are not a part of the road restrictions.  After the meeting, the PGA decided to mail out all of the restricted parking passes instead of requiring residents to pick them up.  This should be more convenient for all of the directly affected residents.  If you have questions relating to the restricted areas please call the Championship Office at 571-266-6270.  The power point from the meeting can be found here.  The Senior PGA and Cascades Community Association are working to finalize an FAQ that will be posted on our website and will be in the May newsletter.  The final SPGA Community Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 9th at 7:00pm in the upstairs ballroom at Trump National.

In light of the Senior PGA Championship occurring at Trump National Golf Club, the Board of Directors is considering implementing a temporary reserved parking plan for all private streets within Lowes Island.  This event will bring a lot of people to the area and the Board would like to make sure that our private streets are not overrun with vehicles from outside the community.  The following plan is being proposed and will be voted on at the April 27, 2017 Board of Directors meeting.  A public hearing will be held at the beginning of the meeting to address any comments, concerns, or questions.

  • The following sections will have a temporary reserved parking plan in effect from 12:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 23, 2017 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday, May 28, 2017.
    •  Section 6 LI (Bridgeport Court, Broadwater Court, Longbank Court, Shoal Place, Tilden Court), Section 8A LI (Loweland Terrace, Muddy Harbour Square), Section 8B LI (Bowline Terrace, Riptide Square, Sound Terrace, Whirlpool Square), Section 10 LI (Breezy Point Terrace, Comer Square, Deepwater Terrace, Driftwood Square, Reef Terrace, Sandbank Square, Shoreline Terrace, Watkins Island Square, Dockside Terrace), Section 11 LI (Sharpskin Island Square), Section 13 LI (Watermark Place, Island View Court), and Section 20 LI (Blawnox Terrace, Center Brook Square, Mid Surrey Square, Paulsen Square, Potomac Landing Terrace, Royal Burnham Terrace)
  • Each homeowner that lives in the above mentioned sections will receive a letter and two parking passes.
  • Each vehicle parked within those sections will be required to display the parking pass when parked anywhere other than a driveway. This includes parking bays and non-yellowed curb.
  • No curb parking will be permitted at all on Water Mark Place or Island View Court.
  • If a homeowner sees a vehicle that does not belong in that section and does not have the proper pass showing, the homeowner may call Battlefield Towing to have the vehicle removed.
    • The homeowner will need to make all arrangements with the towing company, including signing the impound slip and providing proof that the unauthorized vehicle is parking without the authority to.
    • Once the vehicle is verified to be violating the temporary parking plan, the towing company will follow their standard towing procedures.
  • Signage will be installed at the entrance to each private street warning of the event and parking instructions.
  • The Senior PGA will be providing roving security guards to monitor our private streets.
Should you have any questions regarding the above, please send emails to BoardofDirectors@cascadesva.com or attend the public hearing on April 27, 2017 at 6:30 pm at the Lowes Island Community Center.

Officials from the Senior PGA Championship held their second community meeting on March 28th.  The meeting was well attended and the Senior PGA officials rolled out their traffic plan for the event.  The Senior PGA officials will work to answer, or find solutions to, many of the great comments and questions that were brought up at the meeting.  These included questions relating to additional LCSO/security patrols, school safety during the week, phone numbers to call during the event, walk up and drop off traffic control/solutions, VDOT road parking restrictions, and other traffic related questions.  The power point from the meeting can be found here.  The Senior PGA is also working to create an FAQ sheet for all residents of the community and that will be provided when it is available.  The next community meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 25th at 7:00pm at Trump National.
